Guillotine Dog Kennel Doors

A guillotine dog door slides up and down in two side rails and is raised or lowered with a cable and pulley, so you can open or close a kennel run from outside without going in with the dogs. Below are both Security Boss guillotine kennel doors, the Classic and the insulated Kennel Clad, plus the rails, cable, pulleys, handles and bite guard that go with them. Every door is hand-built to order in the USA.

Guillotine kennel door buying guide: sizes, Classic vs Kennel Clad, and parts

How to choose a size

Each size is the largest wall opening the door will cover while leaving room for the side rails. Measure the width and height of the opening in your kennel or dog house wall and pick the size that is at least that big.

Size Maximum wall opening
Regular 12" wide x 29" high
Large 17" wide x 29" high
Extra Large 17" wide x 34" high

Need a size that isn't listed? Contact us and we'll ask Security Boss about a custom build.

Guillotine Dog Kennel Doors FAQs

What is a guillotine dog door?

A guillotine dog door is a panel that slides straight up and down between two side rails. A cable runs from the door over pulleys, so you can raise or lower it from outside the kennel or from a hallway, without walking into the run. Kennels, boarding facilities and breeders use them to let dogs move between indoor and outdoor runs.

What size guillotine door do I need?

Measure the opening in your wall. Security Boss sizes are the largest opening each door will cover: Regular 12" x 29", Large 17" x 29" and Extra Large 17" x 34". Choose the size equal to or larger than your opening. For other sizes, contact us.

Classic or Kennel Clad insulated: which should I buy?

The Classic has a translucent 1/4" HDPE panel framed in aluminum and costs less. The Kennel Clad adds an insulated core and hidden seals, which is better for heated or air-conditioned buildings. Both use the same rails, so you can upgrade the panel later.

Can dogs chew the cable on a guillotine door?

They can, and chewing damage isn't covered by the 1-year warranty. Add the Cable Bite Guard, an aluminum shield that covers the cable across the full width of the door. Always lower the door with the cable rather than letting it drop.
