View full detailsYes. A screen dog door replaces a section of the screen with an aluminum frame and a swinging screened flap. For a sliding screen door, use the Security Boss Screen Dog Door for Sliding Screen Doors. For a hinged (framed) screen door, a screened porch or a lanai, use the Security Boss SB4.
Yes, but most dog doors are made for entry doors 1 1/4" to 2" thick and won't fit a thinner storm door. The Security Boss Heavy Duty Storm Door Dog Door fits the solid lower panel of storm doors typically 3/4" to 1 1/8" thick. If the pet door will go in the screen part of a storm door, choose the SB4 instead.
The swinging door on both Security Boss screen models uses a scratch-resistant pet screen, so your dog pushes through mesh made for claws. The rest of your screen door is still regular screen, so show your dog where the pet door is and reward them for using it.
Yes. The flap is screened and swings closed after your dog passes through, so the porch or patio stays screened in.
The sliding screen model has a locking feature, the storm door model has a locking mechanism, and the SB4 takes an optional 1/8" blocking panel. A screen door isn't a security door, though, so lock your main door at night.
It's optional, but lightweight sliding screen doors can flex once a pet door is installed. The Security Boss Screen Dog Door Brace Bar stiffens the screen door around the pet door and secures its fourth corner. It's most useful with larger sizes and bigger dogs.
