Dog Doors for Windows

A window dog door lets your dog or cat use a window without cutting anything. Each Security Boss window insert fits in the open window with the pet door built in and a spring-loaded adjustable end, so it installs and removes easily and you keep full use of your window when you take it out. Choose a sash insert for windows that slide up and down, or a side-sliding insert for windows that slide left and right. Every insert is built by hand to order in the USA and comes in white.

How to measure

  • Sash windows: open the window and measure left to right inside the channel the sash travels in, into the deepest part of the channel. Pick the width range that contains your measurement; if it falls in two, pick the one that leaves room above and below it.
  • Side-sliding windows: measure the height of the opening inside the track and pick the height range that contains it.
  • Security Boss window inserts fit channels at least 1" wide.

Can you put a dog door in a window?

Yes. A window insert fits in the open window with the pet door built in, so there's no cutting. Sash inserts fit windows that slide up and down; side-sliding inserts fit windows that slide left and right.

How do I measure for a sash window dog door?

Open the window and measure left to right inside the channel the sash travels in, into the deepest part of the channel. Choose the width range that contains your measurement. If it falls in two ranges, pick the one that leaves some room above and below it so the spring-loaded end can compress to go in and still expand for a tight fit.

Can I still close and use my window?

The insert installs and removes easily thanks to its spring-loaded adjustable end, so you can take it out and use your window normally. An extendable brace bar is included to lock the window in place while the insert is in.

Is there an electronic window dog door?

Yes. The PetSafe Electronic Sash insert opens only for a pet wearing its RFID collar tag and controls access in both directions. For cats, the Elite Super Selective inserts are raccoon proof.

Is there a cat door for a sliding window?

Yes. The Elite Super Selective Side Sliding insert has an RFID cat door with a 6" x 6" opening, programs up to 8 cats, has a timer and an LCD that shows who is in or out, and includes 2 collar tags.

What colors do window inserts come in?

Security Boss window inserts are available in white only.
