Security Boss Giant Breed Patio Dog Door Insert

Most patio inserts top out at an opening too small for a Great Dane, Mastiff or Newfoundland. Security Boss's Giant Breed insert has a 15" wide x 28" high pet opening and fits sliding doors from 70" to 99" tall. It stands in your existing track with no cutting, the slider closes against it, and you can lift it out to use the full door. Security Boss hand-builds each insert to order in the USA.

  • 15" x 28" pet opening for extra-large and giant breeds.
  • Single or dual flap.
  • Locking spring-loaded top: adjusts 3.25" for a tight fit and locks down with 2 thumbscrews on the inside, so it can't be compressed from outside.
  • Extendable brace bar included to lock your slider closed against the insert.
  • Replaceable bulb seal on both sides, plus a 3" vinyl weather strip for the back of your slider.
  • Step-over rise of 2", 4", 6" or 8".
  • Panel width about 20.5". White finish.

Choose your height range

Open the slider and measure from the deepest part of the bottom channel (past any rail) to the inside of the top channel. Enter your exact measurement when you order; depending on it, Security Boss may include 1 or 2 extensions.

  • Range 1: 70" to 77.25"
  • Range 2: 77.25" to 84.5"
  • Range 3: 84.5" to 91.75"
  • Range 4: 91.75" to 99"

Sizing your dog

The top of the opening should be 1.5" to 2" above your dog's shoulders so the flap doesn't pinch their back, and the step-over should stay easy as they age. Some large breeds are prone to arthritis and hip problems, so don't choose a higher rise than you need. The rise is measured from the bottom of the insert: 2" puts the bottom of the opening 3 3/4" up, 4" puts it 5 3/4", 6" puts it 7 3/4" and 8" puts it 9 3/4".

FAQs

Will a 15" x 28" opening fit my dog?

With the 2" rise, the top of the opening is about 31 3/4" from the bottom of the insert, which suits dogs up to about 30" at the shoulder. Each higher rise lifts the opening 2". Text us your dog's measurements at 737-215-3211 if you're unsure.

Will it fit my sliding door?

The insert's bottom C-channel straddles a floor rail up to 5/16" wide, and the top fits a track with a rail up to 9/16" wide.

Is it secure?

The top locks from inside and the included brace bar holds the slider closed against the insert.
