The Garmin Astro 430 is a handheld GPS device that provides real-time location data for up to 20 dogs when used with Garmin T 5 or T 5 mini collar devices (sold separately). With updates as often as every 2.5 seconds, you'll never lose track of your furry friend, even when they're on the move. The device's bright display shows your dog's current location and tracks their movements, so you can keep an eye on their every move. With the dog track page, you can see a compass pointing to your dog's location. By sharing your dog's track and control codes, you can even allow another person to configure and control your dog's on-collar device.

Astro 430 features a microSD card slot that allows you to load even more mapping options, such as TOPO U.S. 24K and HuntView maps (sold separately). You can also opt for City Navigator NT map data that provides turn-by-turn driving directions on roads. Additionally, Astro 430 supports BirdsEye Satellite Imagery, which enables you to download satellite images to your device and integrate them with your maps. By leveraging these advanced mapping options, you can see important geographical features and ensure your dog doesn't cross dangerous roadways.

Planning for a more productive hunting trip is easy with BaseCamp software, which lets you view and organize maps, waypoints, routes, and tracks. This free trip-planning software even allows you to create Garmin Adventures that you can share with friends, family, or fellow dog trackers. BaseCamp displays topographic map data in 2-D or 3-D on your computer screen, including contour lines and elevation profiles. It also can transfer an unlimited amount of satellite images to your device when paired with your Astro’s free 1-year BirdsEye Satellite Imagery subscription. With the Astro 430, you can save special waypoints, like "Truck" and "Lodge," so you can quickly find your way back to these locations at the end of the hunt.
